A Global Mission Rooted in Faith and Service
Jesuits of the Kerala Province is guided by the core values of Magis (Excellence), Social Justice, Ecclesial sensitivity, Inter-religious perspective, Multi-cultural sensitivity, and Eco-sensitivity. We are present in 9 of the 14 districts of Kerala since 1956, with major presence in the districts of Kannur, Kozhikode, Ernakulam and Thiruvananthapuram.
Today, more than 16,740 Jesuits serve in 112 Countries across 6 Continents, aiming—by God’s grace—to form men and women for others. They see themselves as ‘converted sinners’ or ‘wounded healers’ and understand their mission in the world as ‘service of faith and promotion of justice.

Province Development Directorate
Society of Jesus (SJ) is a Catholic religious order of men founded by
St. Ignatius Loyola in 1540.
Since its foundation the members of the Society – popularly known as Jesuits- have been in the forefront of the promotions of faith and justice. Development work in the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) have always been a service to the poor for their liberation from oppressive structures and their empowerment for a dignified living.
The Jesuits of Kerala have also shared in this universal mission through their engagements in educational, pastoral, cultural, psycho-social, media, intellectual and other apostolates. The rapidly changing global economic scenario calls for more organized and professional efforts at
resource mobilization to strengthen the transformative works and missions of the Jesuits. The Province Development Directorate (PDD) is conceived towards this end. While rightly emphasizing a professional approach for resource mobilization, it is also equally recognized that a passionate commitment to the mission is an irreplaceable component of the responsibility of the PDD.

Empowering Marginalized Communities Through Education, Justice & Peace
The Province is committed to uplifting tribals, Dalits, fishworkers, and migrants through transformative missions and inclusive initiatives.
Through diverse apostolic activities—education, social work, ecological interventions, inter-religious dialogue, and humanitarian relief—the Province reaches the most excluded communities in Kerala. Our institutions include social action centres, schools, colleges, training institutes, legal aid services, peace initiatives, and more.
Nine Social Action Centres focused on
development, education, and livelihoods for tribals, Dalits, fisherfolk, and migrants.
Two Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs)
provide job-ready technical skills to marginalized groups.

for training social workers and educating students

Core Functions of PDD
PDD Manage the following Core Functions
- Partnering the facilitation of a Strategic Apostolic Plan in the Province from which flows the programmes and projects
- Developing partnerships of the programmes and projects with donors
- Ensuring that the programmes are implemented as per the objectives and plans
- Managing the donor linkages
In this sense the PDD takes on the role of becoming a Resource Organization in the Province for raising funds ensuring in a participatory manner that the objectives of the Strategic Apostolic Plan are realized within a specified time frame.
